Why Casual Games Are Better Than Hardcore Games

Posted by Seth Lex on

There has always been a sort of gamer/developer pride regarding game genres, pride which made people blindly dive into arguments trying to decide for example whether an FPS can be considered a better or a more valuable game than an RPG. Pointless discussions really because there is no way to compare the two without doing a great injustice to one of them – it’s like comparing apples with oranges while stating from the start that the color orange is a must have for every decent fruit.

This kind of arguments have been going on for years, decades even, but not without beneficial results. That’s because when trying to decide which one is better and why, people … More

EA On Mirror’s Edge 2 Rumors

Posted by Dante on

Online rumors claiming that the sequel to Mirror`s Edge, the single-player first person shooter action-adventure game released in 2008, has been canceled recently pushed the publisher EA to offer official comments related to the issues. Several games sites interpreted the indirect quotes attributed by the Swedish site Press 2 Play TV to EA senior VP Patrick Soderlund as a sign that further developments on the game had been stopped. However, it seems that the DICE series was “an important franchise” as EA stated for 1UP before adding that it had “nothing further to announce” at the moment, thus giving no more additional details about the state of the game or the amount of truth present in rumors that spread over the internet. … More

Dead Space 2 Review

Posted by Seth Lex on

Dead Space 2, the survival horror developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts, was one of the most highly anticipated games of the last twelve months. After its release it sky-rocketed in top positions in software charts across the globe and in the UK alone it stood anchored in pole position for two consecutive weeks with competitors such as Call of Duty: Black Ops and Little Big Planet 2 at its heels. And all this not without merit as the game takes the horror genre one step further. A little step, a tiny one even, but nevertheless taken in the right direction.

The action in Dead Space 2 takes place three years after the first episode which focused on the Ishimura tragedy, … More

At first I was a bit skeptical about it, and that’s mainly because of the problems that the previous installment had, but giving the game a chance resulted in an amazing experience defined by hours of dynamic gameplay, challenging and sometimes frustrating battles, entertaining mini-games and moments of sheer joy which accompanied key moments of the game. … More
