Why Casual Games Are Better Than Hardcore Games

Posted by Seth Lex on

There has always been a sort of gamer/developer pride regarding game genres, pride which made people blindly dive into arguments trying to decide for example whether an FPS can be considered a better or a more valuable game than an RPG. Pointless discussions really because there is no way to compare the two without doing a great injustice to one of them – it’s like comparing apples with oranges while stating from the start that the color orange is a must have for every decent fruit.

This kind of arguments have been going on for years, decades even, but not without beneficial results. That’s because when trying to decide which one is better and why, people … More

Killzone 3 Review

Posted by Seth Lex on

War is far from over. The murder of Scholar Visari (at the end of Killzone 2), the leader of the rebellious forces, galvanized once more the Helghast into an unstoppable war-machine seeking vengeance at the cost of the ISA troops. The story picks up exactly where the one in the previous installment left off, focusing on the handful of ISA soldiers which were the spearhead of the last assault against the palace, now cut off from the rest of the ISA forces evacuating the planet and left behind on the brutally hostile Helghan homeworld. The start of the game is surprisingly promising from a plot perspective, with new, interesting and highly promising characters joining the old cast on both sides of the barricade and with a flow of events which leaves no room for breathers. The story that follows is … More

EA On Mirror’s Edge 2 Rumors

Posted by Dante on

Online rumors claiming that the sequel to Mirror`s Edge, the single-player first person shooter action-adventure game released in 2008, has been canceled recently pushed the publisher EA to offer official comments related to the issues. However, it seems that the DICE series was “an important franchise” as EA stated for 1UP before adding that it had “nothing further to announce” at the moment, thus giving no more additional details about the state of the game or the amount of truth present in rumors that spread over the internet. … More
