Angry Birds Creator: Console Gaming Is Dying

Yesterday, at the South by Southwest Interactive Conference in Austin, Peter Vesterbacka, the maker of Angry Birds, compared the explosive growth of mobile and social gaming with the decline of console gaming, concluding that the latter is “dying”. Epic Standards With The New Unreal Engine

Three nVidia GTX 580 in SLI – that’s what it took to reach the high end capabilities of the new Unreal engine, unveiled today at Game Developers Conference. OnLive Payment Models For Europe

During a presentation held yesterday at Game Developers Conference, Chris Donahue, head of OnLive publisher and developer relations, revealed some of the plans for the payment methods to be implemented in Europe for the cloud streaming service, such as cashcards and mobile payments.

“Our economy engine is a little bit limited at the minute but we’re looking at it,” stated Donahue. “We’re launching in Europe later this year, so we’ve got to change. They don’t accept US credit cards there. There’s pay by mobile and all those other billing things.” … More

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Free DLC

On the 18th of January 2011 Ubisoft announced that the Animus Project Update 2.0 DLC (downloadable content) for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is now available for free for the XBOX360 on the XBOX LIVE network and for the PS3 from PSN. The update comes to enrich the Brotherhood’s multiplayer with a brand new map and a new game mode. The first DLC pack was released in December last year and it also featured a new map together with a new game mode. Ubisoft is renowned for using the same IP for countless iterations until it has been sucked dry of any novelty or appeal. So the press release that surfaced today, announcing a new installment for the Prince of Persia series has the same surprise value as the night-day cycle.

The video game currently in development is called Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the storyline behind it will naturally complement the one on which Sands of Time has been build upon.
